Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Family Tree Circle handles and how. BeeiTech LLC ("we") runs the hosted Service. For self-hosted trees, the family's data stays on their own server and we never receive it; the person who runs that server is responsible for it.

Who is responsible

For hosted trees, each family tree is controlled by its Super admin, who decides who joins and what is shared. We store and process the tree on their behalf. Questions about a specific person's entry are best sent to that tree's admin; you can also contact us.

What we collect

• Family tree content added by members: names, nicknames, house or family names, gender, dates of birth, marriage and death, places, job titles, photos, notes, comments and relationships.
• Contact details members choose to add (phone, email, address). These are stored encrypted and shown only to the roles the tree allows.
• Account details: your email address, name, password (stored only as a secure hash), passkeys and two-factor settings.
• Security and technical data: sign-in sessions, device type, IP address and failed-sign-in counts, used to keep accounts safe and stop abuse.
• Visitor messages sent through a tree's contact form (name, email, message), which go to that tree's admins.
• Billing details are handled by our payment provider; we don't store card numbers.

How we use it

• To run the family tree and show it to the people the tree's settings allow.
• To send emails you or your family ask for: sign-in codes, invites, password resets and security notices.
• To protect accounts (two-factor, lockouts, captchas) and fix problems.

We don't sell personal information, don't use it for advertising, and don't share it except as described here.

What visitors can see

Each tree's Super admin decides whether people who aren't signed in see a limited tree or only a sign-in page. In the limited view, living relatives are shown with only the details the admin allows (by default first name and last initial, photo, nickname, family name and gender). Contact details, notes and comments are never shown to visitors.

Service providers

• Hosting: our cloud hosting provider stores the data and backups.
• Email: the mail service that delivers sign-in codes and invites.
• AI (optional): only if a tree's Super admin adds an AI key, the text or photo involved in an AI feature is sent to that AI provider to produce the result.
• Payments: our payment processor handles subscriptions.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms (a session cookie and a security token). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The public sample keeps your test edits in your own browser and clears them when you close the tab.

Keeping and deleting data

• Tree content stays until it's removed by the family or the tree is closed. After a subscription ends we keep the tree for 60 days, then delete it; backups roll off within 30 more days.
• You can update or remove your own details at any time, and ask a tree admin or us to remove information about you.
• Sign-in sessions expire automatically, and you can sign out of every device from Account & security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete your information, or object to its use. Email us and we'll help, usually within 30 days. If a tree lists you and you aren't a member, we'll work with the tree's admin to correct or remove the entry.

Children

Family trees naturally include children, added by their relatives. Accounts are for people 13 and older (or the minimum age where you live). We don't knowingly let children under 13 create accounts.

Security

We use HTTPS, encrypted contact details, hashed passwords, passkeys, optional two-factor sign-in, rate limits and lockouts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your family's information and will tell affected admins promptly about any breach.
